Tips For Raising A Mastiff Pup

Raising a mastiff is much the same as caring for any other breed of dog. You should take care to begin training your mastiff puppy as soon as you can, as well as develop a good exercise routine. Mastiff training can be stressful if you don’t have the drive for correction. Your mastiff will need a good diet and regular grooming to ensure he remains in good health. Be aware when taking in a mastiff that they have a tendency to want to lie around with very little desire to exercise. You will need to have a determined attitude toward exercising your mastiff.

You can start your exercise routine by walking your mastiff at least twice a day, to keep his naturally large build from becoming overweight. If you have a private yard, letting your mastiff walk around for a bit is an excellent source of exercise. If you live in an apartment or other area without a private yard, it is recommended that you walk your mastiff twice a day in the nearest dog-friendly area.

Mastiff puppies need a good and regular diet to help them stay healthy. After they have been separated from their mothers they should be fed about four times a day to help them to grow strong and healthy. As your mastiff gets older you can start to lower the amount of food you give him on a daily basis to twice a day. Make sure to give your mastiff a balanced diet of meat and dried food.

Grooming a mastiff is generally a very easy process, so you won’t have to spend hours a week combing through fur. They are natural shedders (watch out in the spring time!), so you don’t have to work so hard when you brush them. They do have natural oils in their coat to help protect their skin, to take extra care not to over-wash your mastiff; about once a month should work nicely.

Mastiffs are a very gentle breed that, if looked after in the proper manner, will be a very important part of your family life. These dogs are great with children but also great as guard dogs as they will protect the house where the family lives whilst the dog is there. There are several different variations of the mastiff breed, including bull mastiffs, English mastiffs, and American mastiffs. If you decide to have a mastiff as a companion and you look after him properly, you will have a friend for life.

10 month old shiba puppy peeing on older furry dogs.?

What do you do to stop a neutered puppy from raising his leg and attempting to pee on other dogs. It seems like my puppy will pee on husky type older dogs that he runs into. Usually he will sniff them but if the older dog ignores him and just stands there, my male shiba will pee on them. This has happened about 3 times as far as I know and I immediate say no, ugh ugh but usually too late. The other owner just laughs and says I haven’t seen that before. I have to apologize. My puppy otherwise loves all dogs and people and doesn’t display agression at all or bark.
Forgot to add. This happens at off leash dog areas only.

haha i guess carry a small toy water gun and when you get the feeling he’s about to do it. squirt him so he stops??? or if he likes water, swat him with a roll of newspaper or something. and then at times when he doesnt pee on the dog, give him a treat.
