Puppy Vomiting Undigested Food
How long after a fall would a puppy vomit if it had a concussion?
The 8 week old puppy fell from about four feet (adult holding it) This was as it was being picked up at the breeders, and after about 20 min it vomited-mostly undigested food, and then vomited several more times in the next few hours, and has continued this all night. He has not eaten any food (same kind breeder fed) and has drank very little water. The breeder advised to mix some corn syrup with water and see if he would drink it since small breeds can become hypoglycemic easily, and within a minute or two he threw that up.
He is now at the vets being monitored, and they haven’t diagnosed anything yet. He did not appear any more uncoordinated than any other puppy, wasn’t staggering or whining in any way, played with the other dogs and didn’t sleep excessively.
So I guess the question is would he vomit that quickly after the fall if it was a concussion?
What adult was holding the puppy? If it was the breeder they should have not given the dog to you. I also would not have taken it right away. If it was your family member, I would think the breeder would have had a little more info to give you. You also did not say if it landed on its head or not. If you took the puppy in the car, it just might have gotten car sick. I am glad you took it to the Vet, they will be able to tell what is really going on. I am not sure it they would start to vomit or even if they would vomit right away, sounds more like car sickness. Hope that is what it is.
