How Should I Train My Puppy
Puppies, as well as dogs need exercise to remain active mentally and physically. If you don’t have enough room to run around in your yard or porch – take it to the park. Have it play a few rounds of fetch, maybe jog with it.
As tempting as puppies are to buy and have, do NOT get one if you don’t have the time to spare to give attention to your pet. If they are left alone for 40 plus hours a week, it will be very difficult to train a new puppy.
If you try and train your puppy and you’re going nowhere – don’t smack them with rolled up newspapers or anything else. Striking them is not necessary and often will end up making your puppy fearful of you or they may turn into a mean grown dog eventually and you don’t want that.
A tip to potty train your pup is to make sure you put a regularized timetable for it to go to the bathroom. Be sure to take it to the bathroom once during the early morning, once after lunchtime and another just before you tuck yourself back to sleep. This helps in preventing your dog from ‘accidentally’ emptying its bladder on your floor or near your furniture.
If they don’t have running room on your property, take them for at least one walk a day. Stop by a field or the park with a Frisbee. They’ll love that. Puppies and dogs need training and exercise too.
