Few Guidelines To Help You Train Your Dog
Many different strategies can be used for teaching dogs how to do things, from the essentials to intricate tricks and duties. There are many different things that a dog can be used for and individuals, law enforcement agencies and even the medical community are some that use them. A lot of dog owners only provide their dog with the vital commands, yet dogs are capable of doing some extraordinary and constructive things if you dedicate some time for teaching them appropriately.
If you have heard of guard dogs, you know that a form of specialized dog training was applied to these animals. Guard dogs are chosen from particular breeds of canines. An example of a guard dog with minimal training is a dog that barks to scare potential intruders away. Barking is the main weapon of a watchdog and its main priority in regard to your safety. Do you have a big dog? If you do, it may not even have to bark to scare people away that may be potential trouble. This is completely different from a guard dog, or protection dog, that is specifically trained through obedience training courses. It really depends on why you want the dog, and what you want it to do, when you are choosing a particular breed for this training. To get your dog to be an effective protector, guard dog training schools do exist. An ultrasound technician colleague of mine breeds hunting dogs as his passion, and I’ve seen folks who like these breed when deciding on their canine companion. Another special task that dogs are specifically trained for is hunting. When a person buys a dog for hunting purposes; they will choose a puppy that will be able to learn the tasks at hand from an early age. Such dogs first of all need a high level of obedience training. They will learn to comply with a variety of signals and commands; given both by voice and by hand. Most dogs are able to react better to hand commands over oral ones; because hunting requires as little noise as possible this will be advantageous. Hunting dogs are also taught to retrieve objects and to pick up scents. Hunting dogs are usually specially bred, and there are many breeders who specialize in this type of dog.
The military has also used dogs for many years. To help protect the soldiers, military dogs have been trained to smell for explosives that may put troops in danger in hostile locations. It is literally a life-saving ability to train a military dog to smell out explosives. They can also smell for enemy soldiers that may be lurking by. Most of these dogs are trained in a militant manner. They are taught to smell the enemy’s scent, find explosives, and attack anyone that may be approaching that could be a threat. In the U.S., for example, there’s a special base where dogs are trained for all branches of the military. Such helpful functions make me notice that even though I spend a lot of cash from my ultrasound technician salary on professional training for my dog, it is for some reason a very worthwhile investment.
Throughout the ages, dogs have been trained for a variety of purposes and reasons. For different situations, including hunting, and comforting people in need, dogs have always been used. Sometimes dogs are trained for more amusing purposes (like a contest) and not just for work or protection. You really are not limited in regard to the type of specialized dog training you can do with your dog. Good luck and happy training!
