One of the lessons a dog needs to know promptly is housebreaking. Also called potty training and house training, housebreaking is the process of teaching a dog to urinate or defecate at the proper time and place. It prevents accidents inside the house or anyplace apart from the place you specified.
Housebreaking may seem to appear hard if you just think about it. However, there numerous rules that when adhered, will help you make dog training less frustrating to accomplish.
- Young puppies do not have total control of their bowel or bladder thus you can’t expect them to hold it for extended period of time. To prevent accidents in the house, take your puppy at the spot designated as his toilet every hour or two or every; morning immediately after waking up, after eating or drinking, after playing or exercising, when happy, nervous or excited and before going to sleep at night. This technique will not just prevent accidents inside the house but will also help him develop regular potty schedule.
- If accidents occur considering that your canine friend has been reliably housebroken, try to find out if the problem is brought on by physical or mental issue.
- Make sure that you are feeding him high quality pet food. If you are planning to change diet, do so in a gradual fashion so as not to cause intestinal upset. Table leftovers and excessive treats could potentially cause diarrhea too.
- Dog crates can be used during jack russell training. However, care needs to be taken so as not to overuse the crate nor use it to penalize your precious pet.
- Never punish your dog just in case accidents appear. Although they are known as intelligent creatures, your dog may not always understand what brought on the punishment, more particularly if the accident took place many hours ago. Instead, clean up the spot to ensure that he’ll not do his thing in the exact same place once more.

ok well i got a new RT ( rat terrier ) puppy and ive been giving her dry kibble mixed with milk or water. she gets diarrhea and i hate it for her. any help????
Diarrhea can be caused by so many things: MILK (stop the milk!!! Dogs are lactose!), change in diet, colitis, intestinal parasites, coccidia, giardia, stress, etc.
Your best bet is to set up an appointment at your vets office asap and bring along a sample of his diarrhea.
