Introducing New Puppy Older Dog
How do I introduce my new puppy to my other older dog?
Well I am getting my new puppy in a week and she’s a girl and my pther older dog is a boy and I was wondering how to introduce them. I mean I have had him for like 9 years and I don’t want any thing to go wrong. Any ideas? I know that your suppossed to take the dog to go pee pee before you bring her inside or whatever but help please. Any ideas would be nice.
Have your dog meet the new puppy on neutral ground. This can be a dog park, or any outside area that your dog doesn’t consider his territory. Your old dog will be less likely to be defensive or mean if he meets the new dog in a neutral environment. Hopefully the meeting goes well and once they get accustomed to each other bring them both home together.
Just remember to keep giving your old dog plenty of attention and he will be happy to have a new friend. If you ignore him, he may become jealous and aggressive towards the new puppy.
