German Shepherd Rottweiler Mix Pictures
is my puppy not pure GSD?
Got a German Shepherd Puppy about three weeks ago at 6 weeks of age. we have reasons to believe the person who sold the puppy to us is a scammer, we are now not sure if my lovely puppy is pure bred GSD or Rottweiler mix (we’ve learned the breeder owns and breeds Rottweiler). so the question is how do you know at this early age? i’ve been watching the ears closely, they don’t seem to be moving up at all but then again i’ve learned they could take several months before they stand erect like a GSD. any tips on how to identify traits or things and behaviors to look for would be highly appreciated.
here are some pictures.
P.S. we still love our dog no matter what but just wanted to be sure.
I think you have to wait how he turns out later on because germies (GSD) are usually darker when they are this young. Also the ears can stand up up until 6 months of age. When my germy was 11 weeks old many people thought it was my rottweiler’s son or something cuz he had like the same markings, but 2 years later you can definitely tell the difference cuz the tan moved up his legs and belly and shoulders. Also note that not all germies are the same color while some get very light as adults some stay darker. Pretty much the darker they are as puppies the darker they’ll be as adults. So if you get a predominantly tan 8 wk old puppy it will almost have no black as adult if at all.

Shepherd Girl: A Dog Story
In the style of James Thurber’s “The Dog Department” meets “Marley and Me”, “Shepherd Girl: A Dog Story” chronicles the exploits of Athena, a silly long-coated German shepherd. Athena is goofy, clumsy, and vain, and although she successfully foils a stranger’s abduction of the author in a dark parking lot, she also finds time to chase lawn gnomes, strip the author topless at the Dog Park, and pl…
