Is canidae a good type of dog food for my german shepherd hound mix?
Im adoptiong a german shepherd hound mix and i was wondering if this was a good choice. he’s about 8 weeks old and i was thinking about useing canidae all life stages. thnx fur the help
A lot of “all life stages” foods aren’t appropriate for large breed puppies. I don’t believe that Canidae has a large breed puppy food, so try something like Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover’s Soul large breed puppy or Blue Buffalo large breed puppy. Once he’s fully grown, Canidae would be a great choice.
Also, it’s a myth that you need to continue feeding a dog the same food. The only reason dogs get upset tummies when switching foods is that they’re fed the original food too long. Rotation (constantly switching food flavors, basically) eliminates this problem. For a puppy, though, it’s best to stay on one food, unless the food he’s currently eating is low-quality. In that case, switch.
