Is it possible for a puppy’s coat color to change?
My puppy is 6 mo. She is half golden retriever half ???? possibly Rottweiler, Doberman, or German Shepherd.She has the classic markings of a Rotti, but not really any of the build or shape, just so you can get a picture of what she looks like. Anyway, my question is: is it possible for her coat to change? She is mainly black but all of her undercoat is a reddish color (the color of her mom, a golden retriever) She is short hair, but has been shedding like crazy and around her neck it seems like more and more red is showing through. Do puppies change colors even after six months?
Many breeds of puppies have a change in their coat color as they age…whether that be from dark to light (or vice versa) or the deepening/richer version of the coat color. It all depends on the breed. Surprisingly enough, some coats on dogs change throughout most of their lifetime.
