I wonder my tortoise will eat the foam which is put in the water as a land?
i have raised 2 Red-ear turtle as pets. since they need both water and land, so i put a piece of foam in the water.
however, i found out later, i am worried if the two guys will mis-eat the foam.
is there anyone who can help me?
i would take it out. ive seen “floating docks” destroyed by bored turtles, im sure they wouldn’t hesitate to go after the foam. the easiest way i found to make land is use large gravel (big enough that it wont fit in their mouth), and slope it to one side of the tank. plus the gravel is nice to bask on, since it absorbs heat from your heat light, the turtles may enjoy it more. they also sell turtle barriers, that you can put against the gravel so the turtles don’t ruin the slope.
