Dog Training Tracking
Training a dog to track animals?
I want to train my dog to track animals- im probally not gona be able to kill them but at least tree them[i dont have a gun] or maebey track some deer so i can see them. My first question is, what i just said, will my dog get upset if he can’t actually get to the animal? My second question is how do i get him to bark when he trees an animal?
it depends what breed it is. I have walkers and redbones and to get them started I would catch a coon in a live trap and then have them bark at it and then we let it go in a corn field and wait a few minutes and let the dogs go. That way you know there will be good scent. Also we have a basset hound and he likes to bark alot and he chases rabbits so when he gets one going we would let one of them out and he would go out and help the basset hound. And plus because he likes to bark alot it teaches the other dog to bark also. I hope this helps.
